Skating at the Olympic Oval

This is Noah's birthday week and so we went skating. We bought skates at the second hand store as we were advised and found this place on the University of Calgary. It is the location of the speed skating races and hockey games for the 1988 Olympics. The Olympic flame is still lit out in front.
Grace was the only one who had ever been skating. . .so we were all new to this. We didn't know that the little kids needed helmets either. They have these little red chair rail type things that the kids could use to help them on the ice... .they looked like walkers.
We have been made aware of the love of hockey and the importance of Canada winning the Olympic hockey game over the U.S. We even saw one guy that had a shirt on that said Eat, Sleep, Hockey.

  4. I ice skate once a year and it is quite a work out. I would do it more often if we had a rink close.....I would even roller skate more often if we had a rink close!
