curling is really a sport? Curling is very popular in Canada, but I wondered what any of you thought. I just can't feel the excitement.

Skating at the Olympic Oval

This is Noah's birthday week and so we went skating. We bought skates at the second hand store as we were advised and found this place on the University of Calgary. It is the location of the speed skating races and hockey games for the 1988 Olympics. The Olympic flame is still lit out in front.
Grace was the only one who had ever been skating. . .so we were all new to this. We didn't know that the little kids needed helmets either. They have these little red chair rail type things that the kids could use to help them on the ice... .they looked like walkers.
We have been made aware of the love of hockey and the importance of Canada winning the Olympic hockey game over the U.S. We even saw one guy that had a shirt on that said Eat, Sleep, Hockey.

A Day Out

An American woman invited me out to coffee. She said that she didn't like Starbucks, so she invited me to this cute place and then showed me around the neighborhood. It was reminiscent of Holland when the first thing she announced was that they received a surprise call from Shell and now they are moving back to Houston in July. I'm not sure I can be friends with anyone who doesn't like Starbucks anyway. Seriously, it was very nice of her to show me around. She loved snow so much that she didn't want to go back to the terrible weather in Houston. Hmmm.

That reminds me of a scripture that I am thinking about which is Proverbs 31:21 She is not afraid of snow for her household for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
